WILL WILLIAMS was appointed art director of the upcoming "Secret Service Museum" in Washington, DC; the initiative for which the US Government had given the "go ahead".
Painter of the Hollywood Court
Who would have been better for the job of creating the design for the National Historical Intelligence Museum in Washington, D.C. than former OSS agent Will Williams? After all, he is not only experienced in the "business" of intelligence operations; he is also world-renowned as the "Painter of the Hollywood Court". John Wayne, Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Elvis... are just a few of the many legends immortalized by Williams.
Movies such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, River of No Return, and Mutiny on the Bounty illustrate the outstanding quality of his work. "Moviegoers responded to painted artwork during the '50s and '60s..." recalls the artist. During this period he had turned out under constant pressure, one after another of those colorful art-pieces for 20th Century Fox, RKO, Paramount, MGM, and United Artists. "And now", the artist continues, "at the dawn of the new millenium the art of painted movie posters is experiencing a renaissance." After all these years, he is still in great demand. Those posters still available from his early years have become collector's items and now convey top prices at auctions!
